What is (NLP) - Neuro-Linguistic Programming mean to You

We all have seen NLP all over the Internet, but very few know what it stands for or what it can do for you. I was reading a post today on of my groups, and Dora brought this topic about how her mentor provide her with a book for her to read and learn from. Also being a loyal member of the Neuro-Linguistic Programming, since the late 1990s. I decided to share some of the questions and answers to NLP from the, "A Pocket Guide To NLP."

A brief description of what NLP is. The study of human excellence. By identifying in others the essential characteristics of exceptional talent, successful attitudes, and empowering beliefs, you can learn them yourself. NLP was first developed in the early 1970s by an information scientist, Richard Bandler and linguistics profess, John Grinder. From their studies of successful people, they created a way to analyze and transfer human excellence, resulting in the most powerful, practical psychology ever developed.

Questions and Answers About NLP

Q. What is NLP?


A. Its the state-of-the-art set of communication methods for enhancing personal and professional development and for creating personal change gracefully. NLP is also described as "software for your brain"- allowing you to tap automatically into the kind of experiences you want to have.

Q. What can NLP do?


A. It lets you model or copy, human excellence in any form. With NLP, you can identify what makes someone exceptionally skilled, and get that skill for yourself or teach it to others. NLP can help you become adept in whatever is important to you, whether that means getting along with your family and co-workers or being more efficient on the job.

Q. Where is NLP useful?

A. NLP is valuable wherever human communication skills can enhance results - in business consultation, management, negotiation, education, counseling, therapy, relationships, parenting, nursing, public speaking, sports performance and many other areas.

Q. What kind of results can l get with NLP?

A. NLP can allow a therapist to change the impact of the past on a client, a teacher to change a poor speller into a good speller, a business person to gain rapport non-verbally and to run meetings efficiently, an athlete to improve concentration, and more.

Q. Is NLP a therapy?


A. Although NLP can be used as a method of treatment, the application is much broader. Even when used as treatment, it's a process of teaching people how to use their brains. Most treatment is remedial, that is, directed towards solving problems from the past. NLP goes much further to study excellence and teach skills that promote positive change that generates new possibilities and opportunities.

Q. Will NLP change the way l think?

A. Probably, NLP is a model of how the brain works. When you understand what yours can do, you ll probably want to use it to greater advantage.

Q. Does NLP deal with emotions?

A. Yes! One of the things NLP does best, NLP helps people transform debilitating emotions into empowering, resourceful feelings. Since many therapies are very slow, based on catharsis or "venting into your emotions," NLP offers a much more pleasant, effective way of dealing with emotions. We assist people in going through old memories in new ways, quickly transforming unpleasant experiences into productive resources.

Q. Can you use NLP on yourself?


A. Yes. You can use some NLP patterns with yourself immediately. Includes: changing your feelings, learning a new thinking strategy, changing habits, motivating yourself, and more. Other patters/techniques are primarily useful in working with others.

Q. Is NLP manipulative?

A. Since NLP is so powerful in getting results, people want to know that it will be used to benefit them. Our trainings emphasize ways to make sure the changes you help someone get are in her or his best interest. Knowing NLP gives you ways of protecting yourself from manipulation by others or the media.

I hope l have been able to provide you enough information about NLP, for you to understand it more and be able to decide if this is the type of program will improve areas of your everyday life, which you have wanted to improve or change. No one but yourself will be able to answer them question it is up to you to decide what is best for your well-being. Whatever you choose to do, always remember a program is only as good as you choose to use it, without commitment then it will never make a difference in your life.

Understanding Settling and Accepting with Generational Differences

Identifying the differences in "settling" or "accepting" with noticeable generational differences. Differences that are within businesses can be understood better by learning about these subjects. Looking at the attributes of each one will help with a person learning their job and their life.


Several depictions are available as to describing what settling means. Many aspects of this way of thinking come from feeling that you are stuck in one particular place with no way out. While you may think you have earned more merit, your low self-esteem could be an obstacle. A person being a little too hypercritical or even being negative all the time are other feelings.

Acceptance is nothing at all like this and is the complete opposite. With acceptance comes an open feeling where new ideas and projects are always welcomed with a positive attitude. This perspective is one that will help with understanding profound generational differences. Confidence and an optimistic outlook on life are all part of the acceptance way of thinking, and this is what will work well with a business.

You may feel like you want to switch to acceptance after looking over it and settling. Accomplishing this task may be a lot harder than most people would expect it to be. You will need to boost both your self-esteem and confidence to start making the switch. When you enjoy the many things around you and also have the ability to accept new changes and ideas, this is the point of "taking".

Looking at the many different facets of your life will better help you in deciding where you are at between these two forms of thinking. You can often ask yourself what you have learned from both "settling" and "accepting" and make notes. Once you have looked at the details of both forms of thinking, you will find that "accepting" is the most positive outlook. It is totally normal to be a little unsure of making a final decision about this, and you can easily ask for help when you need it.

So many more aspects of life and business can be active through changing to an "accepting" way of thinking. Faster results can be achieved in the area of all employees through positive thinking and make sure all goals are reachable. Many %%noticeable generational differences can prevail over when you learn to go the route of an "accepting" lifestyle.

Surround Yourself With Positive People They Will Build You Up

If you want to grow personally and professionally, you will need to surround yourself with positive people. Active people will keep you motivated when you are feeling down and give you that extra push and support when you need it. Positive people help your self-confidence because they tend to see the potential in you (even when you might not see it in yourself). Active people have a mental attitude that admits into their minds thoughts, words, and images that attract and draw to them growth, expansion, and success. It is a mental attitude that expects good and favorable results. Active people anticipate happiness, joy, health and a successful outcome of every situation and action.

Candid, Constructive Criticism


You also need active people who will be candid with you about what you are doing and provide you with constructive criticism that will help you keep going forward. When you are around people who are positive, enthusiastic and supportive, you will feel encouraged and inspired. You will pick up their attitude; you will feel as if you have added strength to pursue your goals vigorously. If you had a choice, wouldn't you rather surround yourself with such mentally and psychologically nourishing people? Well, in fact, you do have a choice. It's up to you to determine who you spend your time with. To begin with, develop friendships and associations with people who are positive and supportive. Also, seek out individuals who are action-oriented and service-oriented. As you spend more and more time in the company of individuals who have these traits, you, too, will develop the same advantageous characteristics and put them to use in your life. Consider who you have been spending your time with. Examine your friendships and relationships at work and during your leisure hours. Those who occupy your time have a significant impact on your most priceless possession: YOUR MIND!

Negative People And How They'll Drain You

Negative people or those who are not well meaning, on the other hand, will hinder your self-confidence because they tend to reinforce your self-doubt and negative beliefs about yourself. These people will drag you down to their level. They hammer away at you with all of the things you can't do and all of the things that are impossible. They barrage you with gloomy statements about the problems in their lives. The lousy economy, the problems soon to be in your life, and the terrible prospects for the future - they might even throw in a few words about their aches and pains, recent illnesses, blah blah blah After listening to such toxic people, you will find yourself feeling listless, depressed and drained. These people are "energy vampires," they suck all the positive energy out of you. These "vampires" have the capacity to wear you down and kill your dreams. Negative people are draining. Try to stay away from them as much as possible.

Bottom Line:
Never underestimate the power of both negative and positive people. Negative people will bring you down whereas active people will build you up. As Mark Twain once said "Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that. The great make you feel that you too can become great."
